Actress, Meredith Baxter, is 62 and has been married to three different men. She recently publicly announced that she has been dating a woman for seven years now and is very happy. Meredith said that before the last seven years, it never crossed her mind that she would want to be with another woman.
CNN recently did a news report on this discovery of men and women not realizing or admitting their true sexual identity until later in life. Another man, Howard Selekman, was married to the same woman for 32years. Howard has known he was attracted to males since he was 8 years old. Knowing this, he still wanted to marry a woman and have children. Him and his fiancee’ went to a psychiatrist and his fiancee’ told the doctor that she believed love would overcome all their problems. The doctor replied that love would not overcome ALL their problems. Most doctors believe that you don’t choose your sexual preference, you are who you are when you are born and you don’t have a choice to change that. You may deny your true feelings and choose to go another way but in the end, like these older people, the truth will come out.
I think these “older people, coming out later in life” is common right now but only because it was not accepted as easily when they were younger like it is now. If they were to tell their parents that they were gay when they were in their twenties, their parents would have probably disowned them. Now that they probably have twenty year old kids, if you break the news to them, they probably accept the news because in this day in time, it’s just not uncommon like it used to be. So I would say, many years from now, 60+ year old people won’t need to wait that long to “come out” because we no longer live in such a judgemental world like it used to be.
The light brown Zhu Zhu hamster named “Mister Squiggles” has unsafe levels of antimony according to California-Based Goodguide. They found 93 to 106 parts per million. The safe federal standard is about 60 parts per million.
The maker of Zhu Zhu pets are stating this is incorrect and they will not be doing a recall on their newly crazed furry toys. They state they have also performed several test themselves and they are completely safe. So which company that performed testing is correct? Well the side effects include but are not limited to: liver and heart problems, ulcers, diarrhea, and rashes.
I realize this is the new popular toy this year for Christmas. In fact, I have heard of so many parents waiting several hours in line just to purchase one of these furry little toys. And for what? Only to cause your child harm and possibly serious permanent damage? The question is, is it worth risking your child’s health in order to get them the popular toy they want this year for Christmas? I mean sure, your child will probably gripe and moan for a few days, maybe even a few weeks, if they don’t get this new toy they want so bad. But guess what? They are just kids and they will get over it! This too shall pass and next month their will be another new toy that they “have” to have!
So instead of possibly risking your child’s health just so they can own an electronic fur ball, pick something else to get them that doesn’t possibly have an unsafe level of antimony!
Meet Gwen, the new doll created by American Girl. For about $100 Gwen can be yours! She is a new addition to American Girl and she is featured as the “Homeless Doll”. Each AG Doll has a storyline that comes with the doll, as if they were a real live person.
Gwen lived with both her parents until her dad walked out on her and her mom. Then her mom lost control and became depressed. Her mom lost her job and soon enough, they were both living in the back of her car. Gwen and her mom then move to homeless shelter and she meets friends there. The friends are other AG Dolls that have there own story lines too. The only reason why her “friends” are working at the homeless shelter is because they were being bullies and as their punishment, they have to work at the local homeless shelter.
So there are several problems that people have with this new American Girl Doll. First, these cute dolls are priced at $100 and little girls all over are pretty much addicted to them. Not to mention it is a homeless doll which supposedly “teaches” young girls about helping out at homeless shelters and soup kitchens. Yet do you think any of the contributions that the maker, Mattel, is getting going to help the homeless. Which means basically Mattel is making money off the homeless and it seems to me like a slap in the face! I can picture a homeless little girl waking up to the window of the American Girl store and wondering what $100 taste like. This was a stupid idea for a doll.
Another problem I have with this doll is it gives the message to younger girls that it’s the dad’s fault she ended up homeless because he left. Doesn’t matter that the mom had a melt down and couldn’t rise up with a little bit of self control and take care of her daughter. If this was the real world DFACS would be involved once the child was living in the backseat of a vehicle.
My point is, Mattel is you wanted to “send a message” or teach these younger girls that are going crazy for these American Girl dolls, then why didn’t you just advertise that with every purchase of a Gwen doll, you would donate a portion to help the homeless?!
Antoinette Nico
le Davis has been charged with human trafficking and other offenses against her daughter, Shaniya Davis. Shaniya was only five years old and she was found dead on the side of the road about 30 miles from her home in Fayetteville.
Shaniya’’s mom reported her missing on November 10th and they found her body on Monday. Antoinette was prostituting her five year old daughter. The cause of death is still unknown. Mario Andrette McNeill has been charged with kidnapping in the case and is the man the police saw on surveillance with Shaniya at a hotel before she was found dead.
The horrible truth is that their are sick, pathetic people in the world who would do such a horrible thing and think nothing of it. I would love to see them make an example of the mom and Mario for what they put this poor child through. I have a six year old little girl and the thought of someone pimping her out and then killing her makes me disgusted and nauseous! I believe in eye for an eye, especially in a situation like this. This woman should be tortured herself and hung in front of everyone to see! There is NO excuse for her actions and she deserves what she gets AND to burn in hell.
Lauren Johnson, a 12-year old girl from Virginia, can’t stop sneezing.
It began, Lynn Johnson said, when both Lauren and her 10-year-old sister came down with colds in mid-October. The colds ran their course in two weeks and included the expected sneezing — big, nasal, productive sneezes.
“After she had the cold, she seemed to be feeling better for a day,” Johnson said, so she let Lauren go to a friend’s house for a sleepover. She returned home on Nov. 1 — and life suddenly went into bless you mode.
“She came back from having the sleepover; it became a rhythmic, nonstop, chronic sneezing. That’s when we first really became alarmed,” Johnson said.
The constant sneezing was too disruptive to allow Lauren to go to school, so she started having homework sent home. After a while, teachers started coming over, too, to help. Lynn Johnson had to stop going to her part-time job at Ghirardelli Chocolate, and also had to suspend her work for a local nonprofit animal rescue group near their Chesapeake, Va., home. Even Lauren’s father, a nuclear engineer in the Navy, has had to take time off.
And through it all, Lauren’s tiny fist has kept rising to her nose to block her sneezes from five to 12 times a minute, all day long. Only when Lauren enters deep sleep does it stop.
I was driving in the car today with my kids and they were talking about Hurricane Ida. I guess it’s hard f
or a 6yr old and 8yr old to understand weather and how a hurricane in Florida can affect us in Georgia.
I was explaining the difference between hurricanes and tornadoes when I decided to get online and show them pictures of storms. I came across this website specifically for kids! Weatherwizkids.com is specifically for kids to help educate them and help explain the wonderful world of weather.
Once I showed them the website and read my kids the information from the website in words they would understand, they were more at ease with the weather outside and what is happening.
Weatherwizkids.com was created by Crystal Wicker, a television meteorologist in Indiana. The website offers information, games, jokes, toys, experiments, and much, much, more! Overall I think it’s a great website to help educate kids and make learning about weather fun for kids!!
Five easy ways to raise your child to want to read!
1. Start a family book group. Have your child invite friends over and read a new book each week. Or have your kids read a different book each week and then one night a week, get together to discuss what you liked and disliked about the book.
2. Sign up your child for an e-mail newsletter on any subject – from dinosaurs to pop music – that interests him/her.
3. Make the connection between fact and fiction. For example, if your child loves stories about animals, show him a newspaper article about animals, zoos, or wildlife.
4. Introduce him/her to lighter fare like detective novels, short stories, magazines or comic books that are relaxing and fun to read. Or try to find books that are also one of your child’s favorite movies, for example, Harry Potter or to ICarly books.
5. Show your child that you’re a reader and how much you enjoy to read! Kids are more likely to grow up loving reading if they see you enjoy it too. Kids always look up to their parents and usually try to mock your behavior in one way or another. This would be a great act you should want your kids to pick up on!
My home screen on my computer is Google- I couldn’t help but smile when I saw those iconic Big Bird legs on there today.

On November 10, Sesame Street goes into their 40th season of educating children. Happy Birthday to Sesame Street! How cool is that? I grew up with Sesame Street and it was just so cool. And it’s so amazing to see that it’s continuing and it’s still a good influence for kids.
Yay to Google for celebrating 40 big years of Sesame Street and Big Bird!
When you wake up in the morning, you probably have already got your morning jog in, had a healthy breakfast, fixed your family a healthy breakfast and just waiting for your little ones to wake up to get them ready for school….right? Nah I didn’t think so! In the real world, it’s hard to be motivated to even get out of bed, much less get the kids ready and to the bus on time and then get yourself ready and to work work on time…right? Right!
But there are ways to help save energy and boost energy other than the usual basics like eat healthy, exercise, and get plenty of sleep. Here are 11 ways to instantly boost your energy!
1. Don’t skip meals. Especially breakfast! Everytime you skip a meal, your body is starved and your blood sugar stays too low for too long. Once your blood sugar is low, you feel fatigued and can’t think straight. You then might start craving coffee or other quit fixes which only cause more ups and downs. The best solution is to at least have a healthy snack every 3 hours to keep your blood sugar stable and your mind clear.
2. Pack away more Protein. Protein helps stabilize your blood sugar which will help you not get so fatigued or have any slumps through out the day. When you eat the right amount of protein your body needs, it stimulates the neurotransmitter dopamine which will help you stay alert through out the day.
3. Drink a lot. Drinking plenty of water all day helps your cells stay hydrated and work to their full potential. One cup of coffee in the morning is okay as well as one iced tea in the afternoon. Also, a study shows that if you sip caffeine a little though out the day, this should not interfere with your natural sleep/awake cycle.
4. Reward Yourself. As a mom we all try our very best to always take care of our families and make sure they have everything they need. Sometimes it best to stop and remember that the best thing for your kids is to take are of their mom too! Always be sure to reward yourself with time for yourself. That way you can be 100% for them and still take time for your needs as well.
5. Aim low. Take your standards down just a notch. Not suggesting you compromise on health or welfare, but when it comes to perfectionism. Perfectionism is an energy-suck and so is the disappointment you get when you feel like you’ve failed. Try not to worry so much about a sparkling clean house or a perfect kid. Take it one step at a time and don’t sweat the small stuff.
6. Buy Bins. It is amazing how much time you can save if you organize the things you use the most. Buy rubbermaid containers, bins, baskets, etc. Slowly organize the every day shuffle and you will be amazed how much energy you save just by being organized vs. in a panic at the last minute trying to find crayons for homework or your child’s gloves because it’s cold out!
7. Let dad do it wrong. Sometimes if you let your husband help with some of the load, it will take some load off of you. He may not be able to do it just as perfect as you but this will help you not get as stressed and over-worked. The duties will get done a lot faster and then that will lead to more family fun time for all.
8.Hang out with the girls! Sometimes the best way the best way to regain your energy is to get away, let daddy watch the kids, and just get away! Go out to lunch or catch a movie. Have fun just being you with your friends. You’ll come back feeling less stress and ready to go another round!
9. Show your lobes some love. According to Chinese medicine, when you stimulate your lobes, it’s like a wake-up call for the rest of your organs. This is also supposed to redirect your energy upward to your head which is a good way to perk up. When you feel fatigued, usually you feel like your energy is going downward. So give your whole ear lobe a soft, one minute rub down.
10. Lock yourself in your car. You may some crazy looks in the school parking lot but who cares. Lock yourself in your car, turn off the radio, and yes…your cell phone too! Don’t just put your cell phone on vibrate, turn it off. Concentrate on your steering wheel and erase any thoughts you may have. This is also considered meditation. Spend five minutes just concentrating, take deep breaths, and no stressful worries. You will feel much better and just might have a better drive to work, even without the road rage!
Be wary of sites posting the big name stores (Walmart, Best Buy) and their Black Friday deals too soon. While many have already been leaked, be cautious until you see everything in print.
What seems to be hot for Christmas already? Expect to see people waiting on Black Friday for big ticket electronics- TVs and laptops- and ‘family friendly’ gifts like Wii.
And don’t forget there are web specials on Black Friday, too. Fewer black eyes and traffic.
