In Waterbury, Conn. a mother was arrested after her 11 month old baby ingested her cocaine and had to be rushed to the hospital.
Kenya Brown, a mother of five is in police custody and being charged with risk of injury to children, illegal gun possession, and drug possession. Her bail has been set for $50, 000 and her court date has been set for December 23, 2009.
Brown claims that her roommate was babysitting Monday night when the incident happened. According to police, there was a loaded gun in a jacket pocket hanging in the closet of the infant’s bedroom. The eleven month old was released from the hospital Tuesday evening.
Jahmeshia Conner, 12 year old from Chicago, was last seen getting on the bus to go to school outside her mother’s apartment. Her mother didn’t report her missing until the next day. Her mom said the reason for the delay was because she thought Jahmeshia spent the night with her aunt. Jahmeshia was found two weeks later about a block from her mother’s apartment strangled to death in an alley.
Police say she was dead within two days of being kidnapped. Supposedly, a flier was drawn up with all the proper information on her disappearance but was never reported to the proper media. So what went wrong? Why was her kidnapping never reported on the local news stations? Why wasn’t there an Amber alert immediately following the report of her being missing? I think there are several questions that should be answered in this case. This may not bring her back and safely to her family but it may prevent this from happening to another kidnapped child!
First of all, there is obviously a lack of communication with the family! I don’t care if my kids are supposed to be spending the night away from home, it doesn’t matter where she was staying that night! I would have called to talk to my child that night and definitely touched base with who was responsible for picking my child up to make sure they got there safely. The second major problem with this is if my child was kidnapped or missing, first I would have to be medicated from being hysterical and extremely upset but then I would be on the police’s ass wanting to know what they are doing to find my child and want to know how quickly the news report is going to be broadcast! I mean, come on people, I think a lot of people are at fault here! Everyone should have been out looking for this child immediately and telling everyone about her disappearance!
Although the Chicago police weren’t able to give Jahmeshia’s family the justice they truly deserved by finding her unharmed, they are now doing everything in their power to catch the murderer that did this horrible crime.
Maurice Clemmons is the suspect who killed four police officers at a coffee shop early Sunday morning. He walked up to the counter, like he was going to purchase a coffee and then turned around and executed two cops. He then turned his gun on the third police officer that stood up after he shot the first two cops. The fourth cop was shot while struggling with Clemmons trying to reach for the door. One of the police officers was able to shoot Clemmons and injure him as he left the scene.
Friends of Clemmons say that before the shooting, he did brag and tell them he was planning to shoot some cops. That they should be sure to watch the news within the next few days. But of course, nobody took him seriously enough to report it! For two days a man hunt went on in the search for Clemmons. Clemmons received help with money, transportation, medical aid, and they also gave false tips to the police to try and derail their investigation. The two men, Clemmons’ brothers, Eddie and Douglas Davis, will be charged for rendering criminal assistance, which is a felony charge.
Early Tuesday morning, a police officer came up on a car that was still running but the hood was raised and no one was in the car. The police officer assumed this was a stolen car and pulled over to start his paperwork on the case. The officer states he noticed a man walking up to his vehicle. When the officer got out of his car, he instructed the man to freeze and show his hand. The man refused and reached for his waist area and moved his hands. The officer then drew his weapon and began to shoot the man. The man was shot twice and pronounced dead on the scene. The officer did not realize he was Maurice Clemmons until he was already pronounced dead.
The officer was put on administrative leave, which is common procedure after a shooting involved with a police officer. Although many, many people will continue to grieve for the tragic death of the four police officers, at least now the citizens of Seattle can sleep a little more peaceful tonight knowing the man hunt for Clemmons is over.
The ridiculously sad part of this whole tragedy is the feed back and opinions expressed on YouTube! I watched a news clip about the story and then scrolled down to see what comments have been posted. Although you can not see a profile picture to every comment posted, it is obvious what color/race each person was that commented on the story. The blacks/african americans wrote horrible comments about how the white racist cops got what they deserved and how there should be more white cop killings because they are crooked! Some even went so far to say that they would love to spit on their graves and congrats to Clemmons for what he has done. Then you have whites/caucasians that were furious at the other posts and start throwing the “N” word around telling them to watch what they say and how they might be next! Seriously people, I have never heard so many racist and ignorant comments in my life!! I am completely and totally disgusted by all that I have read tonight. What has this world come too?! It freaks me out and makes me very concerned at the world I am trying to raise my children in!!!
There is a new health care bill Obama is pushing and the senate is trying to pass. Although there are always pros and cons to everything. I vote NO on the new health care bill!
With this new bill, everyone is required to have health insurance. If you fail to provide proof and do not have health insurance for yourself and your family, you will be required to serve jail time. This is pretty sad considering they can’t even keep murderers and rapist off the streets and in jail but they are willing to crowd the jails with honest working people who may not always be able to afford health insurance?
There are people in Canada dying every day because of this new and “great” health care bill. As if doctors and health care providers don’t have enough hoops to jump through to treat patients, there will be a lot more hoops to jump through. For example, if you were in a serious car accident and your doctor ordered a STAT MRI or CT Scan, your new health insurance may require you to wait a grace period before they can perform the test. Last I checked STAT meant STAT! Not when your health insurance thinks you should have the test or once your, say 3-5 day grace period is over. This is why Canadians are dying! Because they are not getting the proper tests, surgery, and treatment they need and when they need it!
The democrats and senates trying to pass this bill need to wake up and realize they are on the wrong side of making history here! That once they sign this bill, they will officially be making the worst mistake of their careers! But I guess unfortunately they choose to learn from their mistakes and of course, we will have to suffer because of it! Obama promised health care for everyone…..he never said it would be good for everyone!! I have always said “Quality over Quantity!!”.
Shock value regarding animals is nothing new. Think of how PETA operates in order to get their point across. A new ad from company Plane Stupid is attempting to use that shock value to make consumers realize the impact that short-distance flights have on the environment.
The ad features polar bears plummeting from the sky, some hitting the edges of buildings, before making a blood-spattered landing on car rooftops and sidewalks. The scene is accompanied only by the bone-crunching sounds of the bears landing, and the crescendo of an airplane’s jet engine.
The message to go along with the bloody polar bears? “An average European flight produces over 400 kilograms of greenhouse gases for every passenger. That’s the weight of an adult polar bear.”
While I, and most people, can understand that message, showing bloody polar bears is probably not the way to get your point across. That ad doesn’t make me want to support that company- it makes me angry. If anything, the ad has the opposite effect.

“More than two dozen seniors at Lincoln University, in Oxford, Pa., are in danger of not being able to graduate this spring — not because they’re under disciplinary probation or haven’t fulfilled the requirements of their majors, but because they were obese as freshmen.”
That’s right: the historically Black College has a new requirement for graduation. Students must either have a BMI below 30 (a BMI of 30 or higher is considered obese) or complete a one-semester “Fitness For Life” class.
Some 19% of 2006’s freshman class had BMIs over 30, but most of those students either lost some weight or took the class. However there are still about 25 students left — out of a class of 484 — who have neither lost weight nor taken the class.
While I can generally understand the requirement, anyone who has struggled with weight understands losing it may not be so easy. And anyone who has gotten a 4 year degree knows that fitting in a “fluff” class among major required courses is difficult. With a choice between a statistics class or a fitness, most students will undoubtedly choose the class that will have a bearing on their degree.
So perhaps Lincoln University had good intentions, but they failed to think out the intricacies of what a student goes through in making a class schedule, etc.
In Arkansas, Will Phillips, a ten-year old boy refuses to stand and say the pledge of allegiance until gays and lesbians have equal rights. Will wants to be a lawyer when he grows up and so he decided to make a stand to try and show awareness for the gay community.
He said while he had a substitute teacher, he decided to sit down and not say the pledge. The last words of the pledge are “In liberty and justice for all”. Will’s problem with that is there is no liberty and justice for ALL. After four days of refusing to stand and pledge, the substitute became frustrated and asked what his problem was. Will told the sub. “With all do respect, go jump off a bridge” . Will was then sent to the principal’s office and his father was called. Later that night, his father realized that this was not a typical act of juvenile delinquency. He was only standing up for what he believes in.
Will states he will continue to sit during the pledge until all gays and lesbians have equal rights and are legally able to marry.
Well Will, I’m willing to bet that even though you are only in the fifth grade, with a strike like that, you can pretty much guarantee you will never stand and pledge again as long as you are in grade school. Voters in all 50 states have voted on gay rights and gay marriage and every time in every state, voters have declined those rights to become legal. Sorry Will and good luck with that!

le Davis has been charged with human trafficking and other offenses against her daughter, Shaniya Davis. Shaniya was only five years old and she was found dead on the side of the road about 30 miles from her home in Fayetteville.
Shaniya’’s mom reported her missing on November 10th and they found her body on Monday. Antoinette was prostituting her five year old daughter. The cause of death is still unknown. Mario Andrette McNeill has been charged with kidnapping in the case and is the man the police saw on surveillance with Shaniya at a hotel before she was found dead.
The horrible truth is that their are sick, pathetic people in the world who would do such a horrible thing and think nothing of it. I would love to see them make an example of the mom and Mario for what they put this poor child through. I have a six year old little girl and the thought of someone pimping her out and then killing her makes me disgusted and nauseous! I believe in eye for an eye, especially in a situation like this. This woman should be tortured herself and hung in front of everyone to see! There is NO excuse for her actions and she deserves what she gets AND to burn in hell.
McDonald’s is a huge presence in fast food, whether we like it or not. And apparenly McDonald’s doesn’t think they’re quite visible enough…they want to open 1,000 new stores next year. Uhm, what? Is that really necessary? Did we not learn anything from ‘Supersize Me?’
Apparently the king of cheap and unhealthy food isn’t seeing a profit with many people still watching their money and cutting back on eating out.
McDonald’s has 32,000 stores worldwide. Somehow I don’t see another 1,000 bringing up their sales, but whatever.
Stories of families losing their homes due to foreclosure are nothing new in this economy. But what about a story of a family that was actually up to date on payments and wasn’t actually in foreclosure?
Jeff and Yanthy Zerner of Phoenix, AZ were up to date on their mortgage payments, but had their home placed in foreclosure and sold.They were approved for a mortgage modification with Chase just days before they received a notice giving them five days to vacate the property. When Jeff Zerner contacted the number on the notice, he was told the house had been in foreclosure, and it had been bought. (Wow, that’s quick!)
Chase admitted it was their error, but I have a feeling they lost the loyalty of this couple. And no articles say if they got their house back…
