Do we need another 1,000 McDonald’s? Apparently, yes.

McDonald’s is a huge presence in fast food, whether we like it or not. And apparenly McDonald’s doesn’t think they’re quite visible enough…they want to open 1,000 new stores next year. Uhm, what? Is that really necessary? Did we not learn anything from ‘Supersize Me?’

Apparently the king of cheap and unhealthy food isn’t seeing a profit with many people still watching their money and cutting back on eating out.

McDonald’s has 32,000 stores worldwide. Somehow I don’t see another 1,000 bringing up their sales, but whatever.

Maine is up for the gay marriage vote

Five states have legalized gay marriage: Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont — all in New England — and Iowa. All five of them did it by way of court or legislative action, not referendums. Maine is hoping to be different.

Everyone knows the sides of the argument- supporters of gay rights vs (mostly) those who say a gay lifestyle is against God. But something else Maine is considering? The money.

Oh yes, it’s about money too. Gay marriage brings in a lot of extra money to the state- money that is at risk if the vote doesn’t pass. And in a time when the economy still isn’t as strong as it could be, Maine needs the stimulus.

Would you stand in line to work fast food?

Out in Utah, In-n-Out burger is opening. Not a big deal, right? Just another fast food place, right? Wrong. For the people in this city, it’s a chance at a job. Hundreds people stood in line to apply for 150 jobs. That’s right- hundreds. Let that sink in…150 positions for hundreds of people that want to work at a fast food burger joint. And that were happy at the chance.

Is this what has happened to our economy? That people are thrilled at the chance to work in a job that is typically “low rung”?
